What does this mean?
Common regulations are in place for insurance distribution in Sweden and other EU countries. The rules are based on the EU directive Insurance Distribution Directive, IDD, which came into force on 1 July 2018.
In Sweden, the Directive became part of the law on insurance distribution, LFD, which came into force in 2018. It replaced the Swedish Insurance Mediation Act.
The aim of LFD is to strengthen protection for customers. The law makes the regulations for insurance distribution clearer and more extensive. The goal is for you to have equally strong protection in all types of financial advisory services.
The customer in focus
The law gives you, as a customer, increased protection. It includes rules on clearer information about insurance products.
